Hey, what is that ?

"Hey, what is it? It looks like a transparent fish, ooh..let me swallow it, oops... Not able to hold it, it seems to slip away... Err... let me get it... No this is hard, I have to swallow it, otherwise the other fellows will take it away..." It goes on and on for around four minutes...."
Well, the above is a dialogue that was running as imagination as I watched the pelican that struggled with the lemonade plastic bottle. I was so worried and immediately called the park people and luckily there was the pelican chat show, so the park people came in immediately in a few minutes and took the bottle from the pelican pond. Just imagine if the pelican has swallowed that "transparent fish". (I am sure that pelican managed to conclude that it was a transparent fish that has frozen so hard !!!....#%^%*&)
I had to spend a few seconds cursing the mindless creature which ever threw the bottle inside this pond to die out of some respiratory problem.
Then I sat there and was imagining what these creatures think when they are introduced to artificial objects, this has been the key research area by many anthropologist and animal behaviorologist (awful spelling). They expose primates to different tools and objects and record observations and responses. Many at times I find it unethical.
Anyway, there was another instance where similar thoughts were coming up. There was this praying mantis on a parked car dashboard. It was sitting there for a long time, doing nothing. Usually they do this, but in perfect camaflouge. Why would such a bright green creature sit on dark colored car ?(if i were a bird, i would have spotted it very easily and devoured it instantly)
Are they kind of get fascinated by these smooth cool surfaces ? Or they pretend to look like fallen leaves (it wasnt looking like that either) ? I was not sure, probably this was a stupid mantis I thought.
In India, i had observed Sandpipers (wood?) that rolled over tubelights that were thrown into rivers and later built nests over it...
Monkeys are unquestionably playful when they get an object like this :)
