Giant Squids and Sonatas

What is the connection between Giant Squids and Sonatas ?

Actually nothing, but me... It was me who attended a recital on Sunday and dint write about that.

Today I saw pictures and read the field notes on Giant Squid Observation by Japanese scientists and wanted to write about that.

So I put the title of the post this way (which doesnt actually make any sense :-)

Coming to the giant squids, "giant" things always fascinated me, thats why i am mad on Elephants and get chased by them :-)

The plan (which shows the arrangement of underwater cameras to bait the guy using the fish line and take photographs, looks brilliant. They have used the Sperm whales to track these, because usually the fishermen find dead giant squids in the Sperm Whales gut. (Sperm whales are other giant creatures of fascination).

This guy measures 25m long, they have also collected a cut tentacle of the creature. Looks like a huge sea snake :-O

What is so great abt this sighting? -This is the first time, a giant squid is photographed and documented in the wild (and pics released).

Animals are amazing always...Because all these years of research of keeping the camera traps and waiting has been in vain, because the animal is so elusive... (photophobic like me?), though there are enough monster stories for kids to imagine how a giant squid looks like?!!!

Well, giant squids are not endangered species, but they are one of the largest of the invertebrates kind. These studies help scientists to understand their biology and ecology... guys would be curious to know how this thing moves and eats right ?

Probably a giant model of the normal squid will not be accurate because of the oceanic properties for different sizes, shapes and depths; When there is ambuigity, there are always hypotheses, in this case, the hypothesis that Giant squids might be active movers and feeders have been advantaged from the video footage collected.

Well, Today's lecture is on Biodiversity Conservation, so am not going to sleep like yesterday or get involved in issues like yesterday (Hornbill - not resolved yet, should call that person and do the followup)

Prof. Chou and Prof. Peter Ng are coming to the class, probably the latter might be supervisor , looking forward to meet him.

Bye... Hey What about Sonatas,... Well, I liked only the opening Bach's piece and the closing Brahms piece. Ofcourse in between there were Sonatas from Mozart (E minor), which I liked listening to... :-)
