Oceanic Acoustics

Todays lecture was an interesting topic - Marine Acoustics and Environment. Being his first lecture, the speaker dragged it for T H R E E hours and then as usual we write a test at the end of eveyr fourth class. So we wrote it and when i left the School it was 9.40 pm.
Well, Let me write about marine acoustics. Fascinating, when Dolphins and Whales have mastered the concepts very well, we are paying defence scientists to device similar things and also kill some dolphins and whales in that process.
Well, the dolphins emit sound waves inside water (even in air but in a different pattern) which serves locating food, information about the environment and so on - all for communication purposes. But there is something very important - Echolocation - using their biological SONARS.(pic courtesy :ww.dolphinworld.org)
They can give out whistles, clicks and burst pulses. Well there are some hypotheses on how they emit sound inside water (must be definitely through blowholes)
Once I watched a video clip that describes all the varieties of sounds from Dolphin communities.
I was particulary amused by the burst pulses - like chuckles, barks, creaks, mews and chirps and so on... Wonderful man...
Sometimes I feel very happy that i am still able to enjoy nature and find time to do that...
Life isnt all about assignments, money and family alone.
Infact I have already secluded myself from all the above .... (oh, enough of senti stuff... )
Good night, planning to take a jog tomorrow in a different route (probably depot road?), so have to rise early to track my route :-)
